Composite Fillings
If you have a cavity our team at Landmark Dental Studio will most likely recommend a dental filling. This conservative restoration can strengthen your weakened tooth to return it to its optimal function. The filling material we use in our office is made of composite resin. This tooth-colored filling is more natural looking and conservative than the older metal restorations.
Composite fillings offer many practical benefits.
-
- Composite bonds directly to your enamel unlike gold or silver filling, more effectively resorting the tooth to its original integrity.
- Tooth colored fillings are more conservative to your tooth allowing our dentists to remove much less tooth structure than silver fillings to stay in.
- Finally, composite is a temperature stable material, unlike silver amalgam which over time causes cracks and fractures in your teeth overtime weakening your tooth.
Fillings are appropriate for small to moderate areas of decay in the tooth. If the cavity has spread across a larger portion of the tooth, you will typically need a dental crown, inlay or onlay. A clinical exam and x-ray will help us to determine the ideal type of restoration for you.
